I've broken my SQL Server 2K - Please help
Having spent some time playing around with replication across the net, I
decided to start from scratch with some hints and tips on other sites BUT I
started to remove the replication in the wrong order and it now wont allow me
to disable replication.
The message I get is;
error 3724 cannot drop procedure dbo.sp_selxxxx because its being used for
replication
Any ideas?
Thanks
Pls try using sp_removedbreplication to get rid of any remaining system
objects.
Cheers,
Paul Ibison SQL Server MVP, www.replicationanswers.com .
|||Hi Paul,
I put that SP into the Analyzer and the same message still appears!
What now!
Thanks

Dont worry, have sorted it now.
Thanks for that.

Also just one other question.....
When I set up the distibutor/publisher on the main server I then setup a
subscriber PUSH to my other server. Do I need to setup a PULL/PUSH on the
subscriber as well or just that one well alone.
Thanks

when trying to delete the proc? Presumably the proc is in the same database?
Anyway, please try dropping them from Query analyser directly:
drop procedure dbo.[sp_sel_EE1F8F95DC214CA5ED44BBA96EA645E7_pal]

It takes a long time to insert the first record each time when the program start
I am using VS2005 (VB) to develop a PPC WM5.0 Program. And I am using SQLCE 3.0. My PPC Hardware is in 400MHz.
The question is when the program try to insert the first record into sdf database after each time the program started. It takes a long time. Does anyone know why and how can I fix it?
I will load the whole database into a dataset when the program start and do all the "Insert", "Update", "Delete" in this dataset and fill it into database after each action.
cn.Open()
sda = New SqlCeDataAdapter(SQL, cn) 'SQL = Select * From Table
scb = New SqlCeCommandBuilder(sda)
sda.Update(dataset)
cn.Close()
I check the sda.update(), it takes about 0.08s for filling one record into database normally. But:
1. Start the PPC Program
2. Load DB into dataset
3. Create a ONE new record in dataset
4. Fill back to DB
When I take this four steps everytime, the filling time is almost 1s or even more!
Actually, 0.08s is just a normal case. Sometimes, it still takes over 1s to filling back a dataset which only inserted one record when the program is running. (Even all inserted records are exactly the same in data jsut different in the integer key)
However, when I give up the dataset and using the following code:
cn.Open()
Dim cmd As New SqlCeCommand(SQL, cn) ' I have build the insert SQL before (Insert Into Table values(XXXXXXXXXXXXXXX All field)
cmd.CommandType = CommandType.Text
cmd.ExecuteNonQuery()
cn.Close()
StartTime = Environment.TickCount
I found that it is still the same that the first inserted record takes more time, but just about 0.2s. And the normal insert time is around 0.02s. It is 4 times faster!!!
Last example does not include looking for updated rows in the DataSet and generating appropriate commands. Since it does less, it's faster.

Issues with CR XI R2
Every time it starts up, it goes through a "Please wait whilst Windows Installs Crystal Reports". Typically adds a good 2-3 minutes to the app startup time.
Our main application development is on the Remedy AR System, and I went through an update to the user tool last night. The Remedy User tool ships with Crystal Redistributables, and on an update you don't have any options as to what gets installed. It should normally take a couple of minutes to update, but every time the install touched anything even vaguely Crystal, it went through the "Please wait whilst Windows installs CR". Took over 90 minutes to install.
So, its not a show stopper, but the behaviour of R2 is totally different to the prior CR XI release. Anyone else experienced this, and found a solution?Yes i am also facing the same problem.
Every time i open crystal report XI R2 it configures itself.
May be a bug.

When I pass these files to a validator it has an issue with the roboErrorLog
declaration.
Now the weird thing is if I change the namespace in the opening tag to
xmlns="robomss" than the validator sees it as valid
So the valid tag looks like <roboErrorLog xmlns="robomss"> rather than
<roboErrorLog xmlns:robomss="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">

As the targetNamespace of your schema is "robomss" and as
elementFormDefault is "qualified" the schema defines all its elements in
the namespace "robomss".
Thus for an XML instance document to be valid against the above schema
you need to have
<roboErrorLog xmlns="robomss">
or use some prefix (e.g. "rb")
<rb:roboErrorLog xmlns:rb="robomss">
> <roboErrorLog xmlns:robomss="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
Why do you think that the XML instance document needs to use the XSD
schema namespace "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"? You need that in
the schema to indicate you are authoring a schema in the W3C schema
language but using that namespace in the instance document is not
meaningful.

Issue with Index for Temp Table
I have created a SP which uses # temp table.
i created Index for this temp table. The issue is first time when i run the sp it is slow and if i run seccond time the same sp with the same range as previous one the speed increases drastically.
has anybody encountered same problem.
can u pls help
TIAThe most likely answer is that on the first call the server has to load all of the requested data from the hard drives. on the 2nd call the data is most likely in the data cache for SQL server, in the drive array controller cache or some combination of both.
There is all so a procedure cach. If the proc hasn't been run recently SQL Server might have to load the code from the hard drives, on the 2nd call the proc is probably still in the procedure cache.
