Its to slow when I handle XML field in SQL 2005!

It's to slow when I handle XML field in SQL 2005!

I find that it's slow when I handle XML field (maybe only stored 200kb date) in SQL 2005! Especially when I insert a sub tree to XML field !
I have indexed the XML field.

Is it possible that the XML field is not ripe in SQL 2005 database?

Can you quantify "slow"?|||I made a online bookmark program with ASP.Net 2.0+ SQL 2005, I stored bookmarks in a XML Field, I find it's very slow when I insert, edit or delete bookmark, especially import bookmark to a folder selected.you can try it athttp://www.hellocw.com/onlinebookmark/Default.aspx|||

I'm not sure what you mean by very slow... I just tried your site, clicking on the recently added pages was instaneous... The page came up quickly, and I even created an account, added a page to a couple folders (root, sports), and I couldn't see it taking any time at all.

So..What is slow?

|||Hi,i too need the functionality of importing and exporting bookmarks to my website will u plshelp me in this i mean will u pls give me some code sample.

Iteration through all XML nodes

Hi!
I have one simple problem:
DECLARE @.USERS xml
DECLARE @.USERID bigint
SET @.USERS=
'<users>
<user id="1" />
<user id="2" />
<user id="3" />
<user id="4" />
..
</users>'
Now I'd like to iterate throught all nodes <user>, for each node store
value
/users/user/@.id into @.USERID, and execute procedure sp_DoSomething
@.USERID.
How to do it? Thanks in advance!
Regards,
ReplyOkay, I did it like this:
DECLARE @.CNT int
SET @.CNT = @.USERS.value('count(/users/user)','int')
DECLARE CUR CURSOR FOR
SELECT nref.value('@.id', 'int') item
FROM @.users.nodes('/users/user') AS R(nref)
OPEN CUR
FETCH NEXT FROM CUR INTO @.USERID
WHILE @.@.FETCH_STATUS = 0
BEGIN
EXEC SP_DoSomething @.USERID
FETCH NEXT FROM CUR INTO @.USERID
END
CLOSE CUR
DEALLOCATE CUR

questions from very different flavors of SQL were mixed
#11 - serial datatype is not mainstream, is it?
#12 - apparently ambiguos, 2 correct answers
#14 - on which platform will INSERT ... SET work?
#15, #19 - apparently all possible answers are wrong

issue with XML and Schema namespace

Hi I am having a hard time with validation of my XML file with given schema.
Here are the files:
roboerrorlog.xsd
<robomss:schema xmlns:robomss="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"
xmlns="robomss"
elementFormDefault="qualified" targetNamespace="robomss">
<robomss:element name="roboErrorLog" type="errorLogType"/>
<robomss:complexType name="errorLogType">
<robomss:sequence maxOccurs="unbounded">
<robomss:element name="error" type="errorType"/>
</robomss:sequence>
</robomss:complexType>
<robomss:complexType name="errorType">
<robomss:sequence>
<robomss:element name="user" type="robomss:string"/>
<robomss:element name="datetime" type="robomss:string"/>
<robomss:element name="message" type="robomss:string"/>
<robomss:element name="stack" type="stackType"/>
</robomss:sequence>
</robomss:complexType>
<robomss:complexType name="stackType">
<robomss:sequence>
<robomss:element name="functionName" type="robomss:string"/>
<robomss:element name="lineNumber" type="robomss:string"/>
</robomss:sequence>
</robomss:complexType>
</robomss:schema>
roboerrorlog.xml
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
<roboErrorLog xmlns:robomss="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
<error>
<user>steve</user>

<message>Null reference error!</message>
<stack>
<functionName>Void btnSearch_Click(System.Object,
System.EventArgs)</functionName>
<lineNumber>300</lineNumber>
</stack>
</error>

<stack>
<functionName>Void btnSearch_Click(System.Object,
System.EventArgs)</functionName>
<lineNumber>300</lineNumber>
</stack>
</error>
</roboErrorLog>
When I pass these files to a validator it has an issue with the roboErrorLog
declaration.
Now the weird thing is if I change the namespace in the opening tag to
xmlns="robomss" than the validator sees it as valid
So the valid tag looks like <roboErrorLog xmlns="robomss"> rather than
<roboErrorLog xmlns:robomss="http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema">
If anyone knows what the issue is I'd appreciate your help.Durango2008 wrote:

As the targetNamespace of your schema is "robomss" and as
elementFormDefault is "qualified" the schema defines all its elements in
the namespace "robomss".
Thus for an XML instance document to be valid against the above schema
you need to have
<roboErrorLog xmlns="robomss">
or use some prefix (e.g. "rb")
<rb:roboErrorLog xmlns:rb="robomss">

Why do you think that the XML instance document needs to use the XSD
schema namespace "http://www.w3.org/2001/XMLSchema"? You need that in
the schema to indicate you are authoring a schema in the W3C schema
language but using that namespace in the instance document is not
meaningful.

Issue in browsing msxisapi.dll please help

Hi all, I installed several times the xml analysis provider but I am
having severe issues in having it working on a Windows 2003 server
machine. I followed all the described steps including adding and
enabling a Web service extension for that dll. Also read and execute
permissions are setted up; all seems exactly the same to what I did
other times...but I am unable to browse it from that machine.

Any help is sooo appreciated,

Thanks and regards

ElenaWhat type of error are you getting exactly?

Are you able to browse it from other machines?

http://groups-beta.google.com/group...lr=&sa=N&tab=wg

If this doesn't help, you should post some more information - which
version/servicepack of MSSQL, what error you get, which steps you
followed etc.

Simon|||Hi all, thanks for the reply. I don't get any message...just it
stalls...please help it is very urgent !

Thanks and regards

If you want to rely on newsgroups, microsoft.public.sqlserver.xml
may be your best bet.

But if it's very urgent, you should probably consider open a case with
Microsoft.
